김상학 교수는 고려대학교 사회학과와 대학원을 졸업한 후 미국 아이오와대학(University of Iowa)에서 사회학 박사학위를 취득하였다. 아이오와대학 사회학과 강사, 심리학과 박사후 연구원으로 일했으며, 현재는 한양대학교 사회학과 조교수로 재직 중이다. 주요 연구관심분야 사회심리학, 건강과 행복, 인간발달과 사회화, 계량방법론 등이다.
